Vikings Kokoda Trek
Story
Dear friends,
On 18th May 2013, a group of 15 close mates;
Greville Ingham (Grevo), Digby Richards (Digga), Nigel Mendonca (Nacho), Adam Dennison (Harry), Simon Tremlett (Tremmo), Matthew George (Bar G), David Cummins (Cummo), Chris LeMarchant (Clem), David Pryde (Prydie), Gerald Clayton (Gez), David Flemming (Flemmo), Rick Multari (The Falcon), Tom Hannaford (Spanner), James Wright (Jimmy), Craig Robertson (Robbo), Ron Dennison (Rocket), Kevin Mansfield (Kev), and Peter Gamgee (Pedro),
will come together from far and wide to undertake an 8 day trek though the jungles and over the mountains of Papua New Guinea. We'll retrace the steps of our brave and heroic forefathers who gave their lives for their country along the Kokoda Track during World War II.
We'll also pay tribute to the courageous folks of Papua New Guinea who played an integral part in defending Australia during World War II, through our support of Interplast - a volunteer organisation that provides surgical treatment and training to people in developing countries in the Asia Pacific region, the vast majority of whom are children.
Our goal is to raise enough money to send a volunteer crew of medical professionals and equipment to PNG, where they will undertake approximately 150 life changing operations on people who would otherwise not be able to afford these services, over a 5 day period.
